Net sets up comedian competition for talent-holding deal
Spike TV will make its first-ever appearance at Just for Laughs: The Montreal Comedy Festival, hosting a special “Spike the Mike” showcase Saturday at the Green Room in Montreal.
Ten comedians will be chosen to perform live seven-minute sets before a panel of judges. Winner will receive a talent-holding/development deal that will allow him or her to create, pitch or even a host a show on the cable net.
Pauly Shore, whose film “Pauly Shore Is Dead” will premiere at the 22nd annual fest, will host the show. Judges will include Dom Irrera and Spike TV’s Blythe Cappello, director of talent development and casting, and Kevin Kay, exec veep of programming and production.
