'Zero,' 'Jack,' Simpson laffer among shows adding cast
Having downed his last cosmo with the “Sex and the City” ladies, Evan Handler has joined the cast of the CBS comedy pilot “Saint Louie.”
Meanwhile, Brennan Hesser (“The Guardian”) has been tapped as the female lead in the Fox pilot “Jonny Zero,” while new names have been added to shows including ABC’s untitled Jessica Simpson laffer and the WB drama “Jack and Bobby.”
“Saint Louie” will feature Handler as Dave, best friend to laffer star Louie C.K. Also joining the cast of the project are Dawn Maxey (“That Thing You Do!”) as Beth, Dave’s wife; and Cynthia Watros (“Titus,” “Drew Carey Show”).
Handler — who spent several seasons as Charlotte’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt — also starred in “It’s Like, You Know.” “Saint Louie” comes from Warner Bros. TV and Mohawk Prods.
Hesser will star in “Jonny Zero” as Velvet, a tough-talking stripper who falls under the wing of a street P.I. (played by Franky G.). Drama comes from Warner Bros. TV and John Wells Prods.
Joining the Jessica Simpson sitcom are Aimee Garcia (“Greetings From Tucson”), who will play Amanda, and Ali Hillis (“Boomtown”) as Holly.
The Touchstone sitcom pilot stars Simpson as a pop icon hired by a TV show.
New to “Jack and Bobby” are Jessica Pare (“Obsessed”) as Courtney Benedict, Edwin Hodge (“Boston Public”) as Marcus French and John Slattery (“Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights”) as Peter Benedict.
The thesps join a cast that includes Christine Lahti, Logan Lerman and Matthew Long. Drama, which revolves around two brothers — one of whom will become president — comes from Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti/Liddell and Shoe Money.
