World Brief

RIO DE JANEIRO — MTV Brasil, the local Portuguese-language version of the music net, will launch a second channel in Brazil in May, said the company’s programming director, Zico Goes.

While the existing channel airs talkshows, series and several other kinds of programs, MTV2 will focus on music programming only, such as videos, live concerts and docs. The emphasis will be on Brazilian and international pop/rock music.

MTV2 will target adults 20-40, while the existing channel focuses on teens and young adults up to 29, Goes told Daily Variety.
