Fox has greenlit 10 more episodes of nascent reality hit “Trading Spouses.”
Move brings to 20 the total number of episodes Fox has ordered of the wife-swap skein produced by Rocket Science Laboratories. “Spouses” has done boffo numbers for its first two episodes, with even Monday’s repeat scoring solid Nielsens.
Fox will air “Spouses” for two more weeks, then take the show off for two weeks during the Olympics. Remaining six segs of the skein’s original order likely will air starting in September. There’s been no word yet on when the second cycle of episodes will start up.
ABC execs have attacked Fox for greenlighting “Trading Spouses,” complaining the skein is a ripoff of the Alphabet’s “Wife Swap,” which was first announced in November.
The ABC skein is scheduled to premiere in late September.
