‘Folk’ stays at Showtime

Net has placed 13-episode order for next spring

Showtime has picked up a fifth season of hourlong drama “Queer as Folk,” a staple at the pay cabler since its premiere in 2000.

Net has placed a 13-episode order for “Folk” to debut next spring.

Showtime had already shown renewed commitment to the series, launching a multimillion-dollar advertising blitz earlier this year for the show’s fourth-season premiere.

“Its fifth season will be no less impactful, as we continue the compelling stories and relationships that have made this series so indelible,” said net entertainment prexy Robert Greenblatt.

Based on the original U.K. series of the same name, series revolves around the loves and lives of a group of gay men and women in Pittsburgh. Exec producers are Ron Cowen, Daniel Lipman and Tony Jonas.
