New senior veep to handle acquisitions, development

L.A.-based production and international sales company Dream Entertainment has hired Karen Roberts as senior VP, acquisitions and development.

Reporting directly to Dream Entertainment prexy Yitzhak Ginsberg, Roberts will be responsible for identifying and pursuing finished feature films that support the company’s overall acquisition strategy and adding new projects to the company development slate.

Roberts most recently served as senior VP of acquisitions and development for Myriad Pictures, where she was responsible for literary development, acquiring screenplays, articles and literary properties and overseeing all international acquisitions of finished product in all media. Films released by the company under Roberts’ tenure include “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder,” “The Good Girl” and “Jeepers Creepers 2: Like a Bat out of Hell.”

Prior to joining Myriad Pictures, Roberts was senior VP at J&M Entertainment, where she headed the company’s Los Angeles office and oversaw development, production, marketing, acquisitions and worldwide sales of filmed product in all media.

Since opening its doors in 1994, Los Angeles-based Dream Entertainment, founded by Ehud Bleiberg and Ginsberg, has developed, funded and produced 13 feature films. Company is in production on its stop-motion feature film “Disaster.”
