Newly created post is top job for net's regional HQ

HONG KONG — Paul Cutler has been named managing editor of production and newsgathering for CNN Intl. Asia Pacific.

The newly created post is the top job for the net’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong.

Cutler takes the reigns from senior VP Ian Macintosh, who announced his retirement last year but stayed on to see out the end of his contract.

The position of senior VP, eliminated in Hong Kong, reflects restructuring changes that were initiated in Atlanta in mid-2003.

Cutler will oversee the day-to-day Hong Kong-based regional news, business and feature programming and coordinate CNN’s newsgathering across the Asia Pacific region.

Cutler reports to Tony Maddox, senior VP, news operations, on newsgathering and to Rena Golden, senior VP of news, CNNI, on programming matters; both are based in Atlanta.

Before joining CNN Intl. in Atlanta in 2001, Cutler was managing editor of TV New Zealand News & Current Affairs.
