Specialty net will be distributed by Bell ExpressVu

TORONTO — CGTV, the as-yet-unlaunched casino and gaming network, has inked a deal with Toronto’s Boardwalk Gaming and Entertainment to launch CGTV Canada in May.

Specialty net will be distributed in Canada by satellite provider Bell ExpressVu in what will serve as a “test bed” for CGTV in the U.S. “It’s a little bit of reverse engineering,” said Boardwalk spokesman Chris Allicock.

The two companies will jointly develop interactive gaming programming for the Canada and U.S. markets. Boardwalk will produce interactive bingo and other gambling-themed original programming, in accordance with its Canadian programming requirements, and CGTV will supply such shows as “CGU,” which presents the ABCs of gambling and “The Player,” a gambler’s makeover show.

CGTV hopes to launch in the U.S. in 2005.

The largest operator of bingo halls in Canada and the U.S., Boardwalk Gaming and Entertainment is a division of the Kilmer Group, a company involved in road construction, pension funds, electronics and sports teams in Canada and the U.S.
