FX has renewed “The Shield” for a fourth season.
Cabler has ordered 15 episodes of the gritty cop drama to bow in early 2005 despite cooled overall ratings for the show’s third season, which wraps June 15. Series, however, has held up with crix and continues to post strong numbers in its target men 18-49 audience.
“This year’s arc of episodes is the strongest yet — as good a season of television as I’ve seen,” said FX entertainment president John Landgraf.
“The Shield” has received several Emmy noms, and a win for star Michael Chiklis, as well as a Golden Globe for drama series.
“Since the beginning, it’s been a dream working for FX and now it looks like we won’t have to wake up for at least another year,” said creator- exec producer Shawn Ryan.
Show is produced by Fox TV Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television. Chiklis, CCH Pounder, Benito Martinez, Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Catherine Dent, Michael Jace and Kenneth Johnson star.
