Animus moves to prod’n

Co. to emphasize health, well-being p'gramming

MIAMI — Following in the steps of its Spanish partner, Miami-based media consultancy Animus Group has formed a production division, Animus Entertainment Group.

Animus will make the formal announcement today in Cannes at the Mip TV market.

Animus was founded last year by CEO Damaris Valero, who previously worked in the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American television and Internet sectors. In July Animus allied with Madrid-based Intuition Media, headed by industry vet Ele Juarez, to work in Spain, the U.S. Hispanic market and Latin America. In September Juarez hung out his own film production shingle, Intuition Films, which is now repping MTV Films Europe.

Animus Entertainment will emphasize health and well-being programming production and distribution. It has tapped award-winning producer Fred Silverman as executive producer. “We are unique because we produce, acquire, repackage and distribute in a much underserved category and also because we create shortform programming and reality-based shows,” Silverman said.

Animus will also announce a strategic alliance with Wisdom Media, based in West Virginia, to create and distribute content. Nonexclusive accord gives Wisdom first rights on original Animus Entertainment concepts already under development and on new ideas. Wisdom operates three distribution platforms: TV, radio and Internet.
