ABC is giving its sister studio a high five, ordering extra episodes of a quintet of laffers from Touchstone Television.
Damon Wayans starrer “My Wife and Kids” leads the laugh parade, with a greenlight to make a whopping 30 segs this season. Top-rated “According to Jim” — now the dominant 9 p.m. Tuesday laffer, produced in association with Brad Grey TV — will make 26 episodes, as will the Kelly Ripa-Faith Ford vehicle “Hope & Faith.”
“Less than Perfect” and “8 Simple Rules” are also bulking up, with each show snagging 24-seg orders from ABC. Most laffers produce 22 episodes per season, though hit comedies often make 24.
Touchstone prexy Steve McPherson said he was grateful for ABC’s support of the show.
