Tusk tasked with Plum gig

Duties to include 'curating' features, docs, shorts

NEW YORK — Former Miramax Films vet Mark Tusk has been tapped acquisitions head at Plum TV, the upstart network that programs to the upscale vacation markets in the Hamptons, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

Plum was launched earlier this year as a 24-hour net for resort communities by Nantucket Nectars co-founder Tom Scott, “Scream” producer Cary Woods and Chris Glowacki, who spearheaded launches of CNBC and MSNBC.

Tusk joined Miramax in 1988 as manager of acquisitions and was instrumental in bringing in such seminal films to the mini-major as “Reservoir Dogs,” “Like Water for Chocolate,” “Clerks,” “Kids,” “Strictly Ballroom,” “Paris Is Burning” and “Farewell My Concubine” during his eight-year stint.

Exec subsequently moved to New Line, where he exec produced “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” in 2001.

Plum brass said Tusk’s duties will include “curating underappreciated feature gems, documentaries, shorts, musicvideos and long unseen television dusted off from archives worldwide” to add to its programming lineup.

Plum’s partners are eyeing expansion in other upscale getaway markets.
