Sydney Tamiia Poitier has found life on “Veronica Mars,” joining the cast of the upcoming UPN drama.
Thesp, daughter of Oscar winner Sidney Poitier, will play journalism teacher Mallory Dent, who serves as a mentor to the show’s main character, Veronica Mars, played by Kristen Bell.
Poitier joins the show in time for its second episode, which airs Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 9 p.m.
Actress most recently had a recurring role on CBS’ “Joan of Arcadia” as Rebecca Askew. She also starred in UPN’s short-lived comedy “Abby” and appeared in the NBC skein “First Years” and miniseries “Noah’s Ark.”
“Veronica Mars” revolves around a teenager who reunites with her father in a small town. Cast also includes Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Jason Dohring, Francis Capra and Teddy Dunn. Joel Silver and Rob Thomas exec produce.
