Sun TV inks H’wood deal

Pics to air include 'Mission to Mars,' 'Pearl Harbor'

HONG KONG — A multiyear agreement for library features was signed between Buena Vista International Television-Asia Pacific (BVITV-AP) and SUN TV/Network, Southern India’s major regional. This is SUN TV’s first deal with a Hollywood major.

Under this deal movies like “Mission to Mars,” “Pearl Harbor” and “Billy Bathgate” will air on Sun TV’s multi-dialect channels including Sun TV/KTV, Gemni TV and Surya TV — broadcast in the three regional languages of Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam.

“This deal marks a significant milestone for SUN TV as we move into a new strategic direction of diversifying and further expanding our program mix to fulfill the increasingly sophisticated tastes of Indian viewers,” said K. Maran, chairman and managing director, SUN TV.
