Scribe-producer signs on for high-profile sudser
Tom Spezialy is getting married to “Desperate Housewives.”
Scribe-producer has signed on as exec producer-showrunner of the high-profile sudser, which ABC will unveil to advertisers in New York today. Net is expected to slot “Housewives” Sundays at 9 p.m., giving it a strong shot after nascent reality hit “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
Mark Cherry, Chuck Pratt and Michael Edelstein are the exec producers of “Housewives,” which explores the funky goings-on in a suburban cul-de-sac where things aren’t always what they seem.
Deal is expected to include a commitment to Spezialy from the studio for a blind premium script.
Spezialy was most recently co-exec producer of CBS drama “The District.” Scribe previously exec produced the Showtime drama “Dead Like Me,” which has been picked up for a second season.
Other credits include “Ed” and “Jack & Jill.”
