Rosie Perez will lend her voice to the animated Disney Channel project “Coqui Loco.”
Set in the CGI world of a lush tropical rain forest, “Coqui” follows the ups and downs of Coquita (Perez), an ambitious adolescent tree frog whose sights are set on a singing career.
Kiddie cabler has ordered a series pilot of the project from Edmonds Entertainment. Exec producers are creator Doreen Spicer (“The Proud Family”), Stephen Langford (“Romeo”) and Tracey Edmonds.
Luis Guzman (“Luis”) and Freddy Rodriguez (“Six Feet Under”) have also been cast.
Edmonds Entertainment recently sold the pilot “2 Kings” to UPN (Daily Variety, March 11). Credits include Showtime’s “Soul Food,” the small-screen version of the company’s critically acclaimed movie.
