Swanson to oversee artists at Island, Def Jam
HOLLYWOOD — Laura Swanson has been named senior VP, publicity and artist relations, at Island Def Jam Music Group.
Reporting to Antonio “L.A.” Reid, chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group, Swanson will oversee and direct all aspects of publicity and artist relations for artists and executives of Island Records, Def Jam Recordings and their affiliate labels.
Swanson had worked with Reid while at Arista Records, where she served as senior vice president, publicity and artist relations, for 3½ years. She joined the company in November 1999, as VP, a title she held in the publicity departments of Interscope Records and A&M Records.
“Working alongside Laura for the past four years has given me a new appreciation for the complexities involved in handling today’s sophisticated media scene,” Reid said. “She is a consummate professional whose instincts and judgment are second to none.”
Swanson is based in New York.
