Pariah’s no longer partnered with the Peacock.
By mutual agreement, NBC and Gavin Polone’s production shingle have quietly dissolved the pod pact the two put in place two years ago. With a year remaining on the deal, NBC gave Polone a seven-figure settlement that’s still said to rep a substantial savings to the net over the deal’s full pricetag.
NBC will still team with Pariah for the upcoming limited skein “Reve-lations” and one or two other remaining projects, but as of now, Pariah is back to being a free agent, able to pitch to all the webs.
Polone — an exec producer on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” — said creative differences with NBC over comedy development spurred his desire to settle out.
“There were four comedy pilots we produced that I believe were better than the shows they put on,” Polone said. “We have a different point of view on what’s a viable comedy. I’m not saying I’m right; I may be wrong. But I’d rather give up some short-term (coin) and have some more latitude.”
Polone intends to keep his exec team in place, with Jessika Borsiczky and Vivian Cannon continuing to head up production.
