‘Idol’ reaches for Star

News Corp.’s pay channel Star World will become the first in Asia to air episodes of the coming season of “American Idol” just a few hours after they broadcast in the U.S., thanks to a new satellite link.

At present, Asian auds have to wait two weeks or longer to see the popular show.

The new season begins Jan. 19 and runs until late May.
