Twentieth TV, which has made a cottage industry out of testing a syndicated program on selected Fox TV stations before distributing it nationally, has commissioned five-a-week half-hour series “Design Invasion.”
Produced by Banyan Prods. (“Trading Spaces”), “Invasion” premieres Sept. 13. A Twentieth spokesman said the company is not ready to disclose which markets will get “Invasion” in its regional test run.
In many markets, “Invasion” will most likely replace “Live Like a Star,” a Twentieth series that ends its 13-week test run Sept. 10. Twentieth has made no decision yet on whether to roll out “Star” to stations throughout the country.
“Invasion” dispatches six interior designers to homes in cities across the U.S. Each of the six home-makeover gurus zeroes in on one room of the chosen house to transform it completely in 12 hours.
Another Banyan series, “Ambush Makeover,” drew the greenlight earlier this year for a national rollout after showing promise in a number of markets where Fox stations had begun to run it last September.
