Writer to coordinate Latin America articles
Anna Marie De La Fuente is joining Variety and Daily Variety as chief Latin America writer, be based in the Los Angeles office.
She will cover the entertainment business south of the border, with an emphasis on the growing connection between Hollywood and Latin America. She also will coordinate stories from the papers’ growing network of Latin American stringers.
“Anna Marie joins our team at a propitious moment, just as showbiz in Latin America gets a new lease on life and as the Hispanic community Stateside comes into its own,” said Variety deputy editor Elizabeth Guider.
A Spanish national born in the Phillipines, De La Fuente began her career in journalism while living in Madrid. She was the Spanish bureau chief for the Hollywood Reporter from 1990-96, at which time she moved to Los Angeles and became a freelance media writer. In 1998 she was appointed Latin America bureau chief for Screen Intl.
De La Fuente has written widely on the entertainment industry, contributing to the Los Angeles Times, Variety Deal Memo, Billboard and Broadcast.
