Pubcaster Doordarshan bowed its digital satellite TV offerings on Thursday.DD Direct Plus airs 12 radio and 32 TV channels — 17 from the Doordarshan stable including DD News, DD Sports, DD Bharati and 11 regional DD channels. CNN, BBC, Headlines Today, Star Utsav and Sun TV also are part of the bouquet. The service is free, but viewers must buy set-top boxes, priced between $58 and $95, to access the signal. It aims to reach about 2 million subscribers by the end of 2005. Platform is the second in India after Subhash Chandra’s Dish TV.
