Berman firm in ‘CSI’ scene

Scribe inks three-year pact for Eye skein

There are many, many corpses in Josh Berman’s future.

“CSI” scribe, who has been with the hit drama since its first season, has inked a three-year deal with CBS Prods. and Alliance Atlantis to remain with the show through May 2007. Berman will be upped from supervising producer to co-exec producer of the show, which begins its fifth season this fall.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony Zuiker, Ann Donahue, Jonathan Littman, Danny Cannon, Cynthia Chvatal and William Petersen are the exec producers of “CSI,” with Mendelsohn overseeing the skein on a day-to-day basis.

Before “CSI,” Berman was a program exec at NBC Studios, working in both the current and development divisions. A desire to write led him to transition out of the exec ranks.

“I couldn’t sleep at night unless I’d written a couple of pages,” he said. “I’d come home and write from midnight to five.”
