Bands have a ball for Justice

Sugar Ray, Third Eye Blind rock the Justice Ball

Mark McGrath had a little trouble pronouncing “Bet Tzedek” at its annual Justice Ball Saturday night, but the crowd seemed too into his concert to notice. Revelers packed the Hollywood Palladium for the House of Justice, a nonprofit org benefiting low-income and elderly residents in L.A. County.

With a dance floor glowing under pink lights and buffet tables displaying appropriately kosher goodies, the Justice Ball made philanthropy look, well, fabulous. Sugar Ray and Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins rocked the mic for a crowd young enough that wristbands were required at the bar, and caution had to be exercised on the dance floor.

Camryn Manheim said the charity resonated personally and professionally, given her Jewish faith and all those years of playing a legal eagle on “The Practice.”

Also on hand: org’s exec director, Mitchell Kamin, and Bob Odenkirk.
