Discovery game for beast bouts

NEW YORK — In anticipation of the Summer Olympics in Athens, Discovery Network will give other species a chance to shine.

Cabler will air “Animal Games,” a virtual hourlong Olympics where birds, mammals, reptiles, fish and insects compete for the gold.

Participants will compete in classic track and field events in a virtual stadium filled with their peers.

To level the playing field, animals will be transformed to human size.

In addition to the competitions, “Animal Games” will feature profiles of individual animals, instant replays and commentary from sportscasters James Brown and Cris Collinsworth.
