ABC has a couple stunts up its sleeve, bringing in Quentin Tarantino to direct an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and slotting a live two-hour version of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
“Kill Bill Vol. 2” helmer Tarantino will direct and produce tonight’s “Jimmy Kimmel,” incorporating his signature camera shots, lighting, fashion and music elements into the talker.
“This could be the bloodiest talkshow ever,” said host Jimmy Kimmel.
Tarantino announced the plan Monday night while guesting on “Kimmel”; the director also led the “Kimmel” audience to a showing of “Kill Bill Vol. 2” (unspooling at the ArcLight Theater) after the show.
Net also announced a special two-hour sweeps edition of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which will air Thursday, May 6, from 8 to 10 p.m.
The special edition will feature members of the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team tearing up and reconstructing a New York family’s home in just 12 hours (compared to the seven days the show usually uses to completely gut and remodel a house).
ABC will then end “Primetime Thursday” early in order for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to come back live at approximately 10:50 p.m. Host Ty Pennington and designers Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis, Tracy Hutson, Michael Moloney, Constance Ramos and Preston Sharp will then reveal the home’s changes for the first time.
The two-hour special will also be rebroadcast on Saturday, May 8 at 9 p.m.
