Matt Long – ‘Jack and Bobby’

Why should we watch your show?

“There aren’t too many shows about two brothers growing up, and one grows up to be the leader of the free world. It’s the perfect time for a show like this. Everybody is so heated during an election year. Everybody is talking politics.”

What have we seen you in before?

“Nothing. The only thing you could only have seen me in was a 15-second promo for MTV’s Spring Break. It was an Ice Breakers promo and I played the kid who won the contest. That was a huge deal, actually, because it was national. A couple weeks later I booked this job. I also did another 15-second spot that was only seen in England, Germany and France. So unless you’re from Kentucky and saw me in some plays, that’s it.”

What in the past are you most proud of?

“I don’t know if this qualifies as proud exactly. I guess I could say that what’s dear to me is my relationship with my family. We’re very close. In this profession, lot of people don’t get support from their families. When I’m down they’re there to encourage and push me and pick me back up. I feel very blessed.”

How do you plan to use your newfound celebrity?

“I know it sounds cliched but, hopefully, to be a good role model. As far as political stuff goes, I don’t really consider myself to be a politician. A lot of people ask me if I’ll get involved, and at this point I would have to say no, I don’t think it’s my place.”

What were your favorite shows growing up?

” ‘MacGyver’ was a big one. I also used to watch ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ and ‘The A Team’ with my dad.”

Whose career would you most like to emulate?

“I think Brad Pitt has had an amazing career. He’s done so many interesting, juicy and weird roles, I think it’s great.”
