BEIJING — China’s top rocker Cui Jian has cut short his first North American tour due to problems obtaining a U.S. visa, according to Cui’s manager Paul Fry.
The artist was slated to perform 13 dates in the U.S. and Canada beginning last week in Schenectady, N.Y.
“We are extremely unhappy that we could not get the proper documents from the government,” Fry said in a statement. “But we are living in difficult times. The dates will hopefully be rescheduled at the earliest possible opportunity.”
Cui’s tour is now scheduled to begin Saturday in Chicago and will include six U.S. cities and Vancouver. He has previously toured the U.S. but not Canada.
