Sony BMG taps legal exec

Wilcox will overses biz, legal affairs

Sony BMG Music has tapped Ron Wilcox exec VP and chief business and legal affairs officer. He had been Sony Music’s exec VP, business affairs and new technology, since 2000.

Wilcox will oversee Sony BMG Music’s business and legal affairs activities and help create policies for implementation throughout the company’s operations. He will work with Sony BMG’s label executives and jointly oversee the label business and legal affairs functions, as well as provide business and legal affairs central support to other Sony BMG business units, including its catalog, soundtrack, special products, classical, children’s entertainment product and digital businesses.

Wilcox joined CBS Records in 1983 as director, business affairs, and became senior VP, business affairs & administration, at Sony Music in 1990. He will report to Sony BMG Music chief exec Andrew Lack.
