NBA books trio to boost kids’ reading

Rashad, Sanders to co-host spec Feb. 14

HOLLYWOOD — Hilary Duff, Ashanti and Usher are the musical headliners for “NBA All-Star Read to Achieve Celebration,” a one-hour special to air on 12 broadcast and cable networks, including ABC, TNT, BET and the Disney Channel.

“NBA Inside Stuff” host and executive producer Ahmad Rashad and Summer Sanders will co-host the spec from the Los Angeles Convention Center on Feb. 14, the weekend of the NBA All-Star Game.

Launched in May 2001, “Read to Achieve” is a year-round, leaguewide initiative supported by the NBA, WNBA and the National Basketball Development League.

NBA and WNBA players will make appearances throughout the event to provide children “with a powerful reminder of the value of reading,” according to Rashad.
