Former Universal Music exec John Kennedy was appointed chair-CEO of music industry group the Intl. Federation of the Phonographic Industry, the trade body said Monday.
Kennedy, who will start Oct. 1, replaces Jay Berman, who retires after a six-year stint. Kennedy was the former president-CEO of Universal Music Intl., a position he left in February.
The IFPI reps music labels including Universal, Warner Music, EMI and the newly combined Sony Music-BMG, plus independent labels.
