Singer tops with four nods, Vandross follows with three

Beyonce Knowles topped the the Soul Train Music Awards nomination list with four. Noms for the 18th annual soul-themed kudofest were announced Thursday.

Knowles drew nominations in the R&B/soul single, female; R&B/soul album, female; R&B/soul or rap album of the year; and the Michael Jackson Award for R&B/soul or rap musicvideo categories.

Fellow Grammy award winner Luther Vandross received three noms, for R&B/soul single, male; R&B/soul album, male; and R&B/soul or rap album of the year.

Grammy winning duo OutKast garnered two nominations, for R&B/soul or rap album of the year and the Michael Jackson Award for R&B/soul or rap musicvideo.

Erykah Badu, B2K, Anthony Hamilton, the Isley Brothers featuring Ron Isley and R. Kelly also earned two noms each.

Soul Train kudos include R&B/soul or rap new artist; R&B/soul album group, band or duo; and R&B/soul album, male and female, respectively.

Kudos will be broadcast live in national syndication March 20 from the Intl. Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
