Artemis buys Tone-Cool

2003's no. 1 blues co. boasts acts Tedeschi, Taj Mahal

HOLLYWOOD — Danny Goldberg’s Artemis Records has acquired the blues-roots label Tone-Cool.

Artemis will market and distribute future releases domestically and internationally. Tone-Cool founder and CEO Richard Rosenblatt will remain on staff with the new title of president. He will report to Goldberg, Artemis’ chairman and CEO.

Founded in 1985, Tone-Cool is based in Wellesley, Mass. Its catalog boasts releases from Susan Tedeschi, North Mississippi Allstars, Taj Mahal and Garage A Trois. Artemis has distributed Tone-Cool since 2001.

Tone-Cool was the No. 1 blues label in 2003 based on SoundScan figures.
