MIAMI — Vene Music, the Latin tune label of Venezuela-based privately held conglom Grupo Cisneros, has acquired world rights to the newest record of Dominican superstar Juan Luis Guerra.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Venevision Internacional prexy Luis Villanueva said that to date Vene Music has concentrated its efforts on the U.S. Hispanic market, but with the upcoming Guerra release it will target markets worldwide.
Karen Records, the label that has released Guerra’s albums the past two decades, stated that it has authorized Guerra to go with Vene Music for this one album. The diskery denied that there is a rift between Guerra and Karen Records chief Bienvenido Rodriguez.
