Sony BMG Strategic Marketing has tapped Paula Erickson to oversee all master licensing within the television, film, commercial and merchandise areas.
Her appointment as senior VP, master licensing, is part of the establishment of key management in the newly formed unit.
Matthew Stringer has been named senior VP, new product development/marketing; Tim Pearson has been given the same title for Sony BMG Direct; and Chris Hamer has been named senior veep, strategic business development.
All four will report to Joe DiMuro, executive vice president, master licensing.
The Sony BMG Strategic Marketing unit works closely with the company’s labels to oversee and coordinate activities in a variety of areas, including master use licensing, creative product development, partnership marketing alliances and the coordination of joint soundtrack projects between the Sony Music and BMG label groups, as well as overseeing Elvis Presley content management.
Erickson, who is based in L.A., most recently held the same position for Sony Music Entertainment, which she joined in 1993. Previously, she was creative director of film and television for Polygram Music Publishing, and prior to that was director of music for Cannon Films.
Stringer will be responsible for all product development, product management and marketing of various products generated through the Sony BMG Strategic Marketing Group. He will focus on the company’s thematic compilation records, soundtrack projects, Elvis Presley catalog management and all new business development product creation. He was formerly with BMG.
Pearson will be responsible for the management, generation and placement of all direct-response television initiatives across Sony BMG’s content centers. Since 1998, Pearson has been VP, sales and marketing, Sony Music Direct.
Hamer will seek to develop and create integrated business development opportunities for Sony BMG across a number of corporate partners. He will concentrate on new business development relationships. He was formerly Sony Music’s senior VP, strategic marketing. Prior to that he had been at Cadillac as director of advertising and promotion, and before that at OnStar as director of marketing communications.
