Cannes to salute Schifrin

Croisette to honor different composer each day

Composer Lalo Schifrin will be honored at the Cannes Film Festival and by the French performing rights org Sacem for contributions to music and film.

Schifrin will perform a concert with a jazz trio May 18 in the Palais and a day earlier teach a master class in the Bunuel Theater.

Film music will again be played along the Croisette, honoring a different composer each day. Besides Schifrin, music by Maurice Jarre, Joe Hisaishi, Zbigniew Preisner, Francois de Roubaix and Wasis Diop will be played.
