Focus will expand to USA, Sci Fi Channel
NBC U has upped Dan Harrison to senior VP of cross-network strategy and emerging networks, a newly created position.
He will report to NBC U cable entertainment/cross-platform strategy topper Jeff Gaspin.
Harrison, who has served as VP of strategic program planning for Bravo since June 2003, will now expand his focus to include the USA and Sci Fi Channel, and the cross-promotional opportunities between them. He will also have oversight of Universal HD and work with Gaspin on new content offerings, both linear and VOD.
Exec will also remain in charge of Bravo’s long-range planning and scheduling, reporting to Bravo/Trio prexy Lauren Zalaznick.
“Dan has repeatedly demonstrated a unique knowledge of television’s past and future,” Gaspin said. “Few people are more excited about this business or better experienced to assume this role.”
Previously, Harrison spent two years as senior VP of programming and planning at Fox Sports Group, working on the Emmy-nominated “Beyond the Glory” spec and helping to launch Fox’s extreme sports net, Fuel. He was also a VP of ZeniMax Media.
He started his NBC career as a director of program planning and scheduling in 1996, rising to VP in 2000.
Other stints include as scheduling exec at UPN and scribe for A&E’s “Biography” hours on “MASH” and “Alan Alda.”
