Pic centers on politico passing the family dynasty to his son
Spain’s Wanda Films has boarded Adrian Caetano’s next pic, “Caudillo.” Producer Oscar Kramer of Argentina’s OK Films also said he is in talks with two French companies that are interested in co-producing the drama.Story, written by Caetano and Marcelo Figueras (writer of Marcelo Pineyro’s “Plata Quemada” and “Kamchatka”), is a sort of Argentine “Godfather” about a powerful politician who passes on the family’s political dynasty to his son. According to Kramer, the pic is slated to start shooting in Argentina in the fall. Caetano’s pics “Un oso rojo” and “Bolivia” were in Cannes in the Directors Fortnight 2002 and Critics Week 2001, respectively. “Argentina is very much in vogue, and I am fielding a lot of co-production offers on my projects,” Kramer said. Kramer, Wanda Films and helmer Carlos Sorin’s Guacamole Films are co-producers in Sorin’s “Le Chien,” which may compete in San Sebastian in September. Sorin’s “Historias minimas” won the special jury prize at San Sebastian in 2002. OK Films also has teamed with Spain’s Morena Films and France’s Morgan Films to co- produce “Nahuel,” to be helmed by Argentina’s Fernando Diaz. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the fall. OK Films has also boarded Damian Szifron’s next still-untitled project. Szifron wrote and produced the local TV hit series “Los Simuladores.” His debut feature, “El fondo del mar,” was a critical hit in Argentina.
