Music shingle to rep Latinos
Music mogul Irving Azoff has formed a management company to handle Latin acts with Latin music exec and record producer Alejandro Asensi.
AA Music Management will open its doors with Azoff client Christina Aguilera and Luis Miguel, who Asensi has managed for years, as its first two clients. Azoff said AA would expand to have only “a handful” of clients.
“This is really a business of untapped potential. As Latin music is getting more regionalized, people are getting a really good start but then they don’t get more doors opened,” Azoff told Daily Variety. “Now that we’re down to four labels, they should be four great labels that understand the need to globalize their markets. We’re interested in working with people with the ability to be worldwide stars.”
AA will pursue touring and other opportunities in the Latin world for Aguilera, who will release her second Spanish-lingo album in the spring.
Besides Aguilera, Azoff’s azoffmusic management company represents the Eagles, Jewel, Seal, Van Halen and Babyface. AA is based in West Los Angeles.
