Tour on hiatus after Oakdale Theater perf, to resume late Sept.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The national tour of “The Producers” is killing a week of its run in September for “a computer upgrade.”

Tour will play the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, Conn., Sept. 7-12. A second week was scrapped. Oakdale dates follow a two-week run at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford Aug. 24-Sept. 5.

The unusual explanation of the curtailed run is, according to a tour spokesman, “a general computer upgrade in the automated system for the show.”

Tour will resume later in September in Providence, R.I.

The back-to-back runs mark the first time a major touring musical will be shared by two presenting houses in overlapping markets in the state. The Oakdale, a commercial venue, is owned by Clear Channel Entertainment, one of the producers on “The Producers.” The Bushnell is a local nonprofit arts house.

Ticket holders for the second week of the Oakdale run can exchange their tickets or get their money back at the point of sale.
