Fox finds ‘Naked’ scribes

Bobrow's 'Employed,' Boren's 'Dirtbags' impress execs

Andy Bobrow and Matt Boren have emerged as the first writers to come out of Fox’s “Naked TV” with signed script development deals.

As part of Fox’s creative writer development department, “Naked TV” is the joint effort between Fox and the Naked Angels Theater Co. to proactively seek out new writing talent.

“Naked TV” showcases the works of aspiring writers in a limited run showcase of short plays. Fox execs attend the performance seeking to find source material for new pilot scripts.

Bobrow’s one-act “Employed” revolves around the white-collar business world, while Boren’s “Dirtbags” explored a group of small-town friends.

“We were thrilled with the response we got,” said Fox exec veep of programming Craig Erwich. “It was an excellent production that helped us forge some very important creative relationships.”

On the animation front, execs were keen on Chuck Swenson’s “Friction” and Sharr White’s “The Lamb.”

Naked Angels member Paul Eckstein exec produced the showcase, which ran April 15-May 9 at the Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica.
