THINKFilm has acquired North American rights to Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski’s doc “Born Into Brothels.” The film premiered at Sundance 2004 and won the documentary Audience Award.

THINKFilm will present “Born Into Brothels” in association with HBO/Cinemax Documentary Films, the arrangement that released “Spellbound” and Jonathan Demme’s “The Agronomist.”

“Born Into Brothels” will open at New York’s Film Forum on Dec. 8 and will expand nationally in early 2005.

“Born Into Brothels” is a portrait of several children who live in the red-light district of Calcutta where their mothers work, which makes them look at their world with new eyes.

ThinkFilm has also picked up four more docs, including Matt Mahurin’s “I Like Killing Flies,” Vikram Jayanti’s “Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine,” Claude Nuridsany and Marie Perennou’s “Genesis” and the upcoming Lou Wasserman doc, “The Last Mogul,” directed by Barry Avrich.
