SVT sells digital ‘Saraband’ rights

Final Bergman film will open in Paris outside fest circuit

AMSTERDAM — Pubcaster Swedish Television (SVT) has sealed a deal with France’s Rezo Film for the digital cinema release of Ingmar Bergman’s drama “Saraband” in France and the French-speaking regions of Belgium and Switzerland.

The final film from Bergman, who has announced his retirement at age 85, “Saraband” will open in Paris today on three screens for its HD digital world cinema premiere outside the fest circuit.

Pic had its international festival premiere at the New York Film Festival in October. The worldwide distributor for the pic, SVT Sales had earlier closed a deal with Sony Pictures Classics for the digital cinema release of “Saraband” in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Mexico and some territories in Latin America.
