Sony makes plans for ‘Honeymoon’

Gold/Miller acquires Wisner's worldwide adventure

In Sony’s first purchase for Eric Gold and Jimmy Miller’s new production shingle, the studio has made a deal for “Last First Kiss” scribe Kevin Bisch to adapt Franz Wisner’s upcoming memoir, “Honeymoon With My Brother.”

Gold/Miller acquired the property, along with associated life rights, in a preemptive and exclusive negotiation that closed in a high six against low seven-figure deal.

Wisner’s tale began when, in the course of a month, he was demoted from his executive job and dumped by his fiancee days before they were to walk down the aisle. He decided to hold the wedding anyway, followed by a honeymoon with his estranged brother, Kurt. What followed was a two-year adventure that took the men around the world.

Wisner once served as spokesman for former Calif. Gov. Pete Wilson. St. Martin’s Press will publish “Honeymoon With My Brother” this fall.

Gold/Miller manager Julie Darmody brought the property to the company. Columbia Pictures’ execs on the project are VP Rachel O’Connor and director of development Jonathan Kadin, supervised by production co-president Doug Belgrad.

“Last First Kiss,” a romantic comedy that stars Will Smith and Eva Mendes, began production for Col last Monday in New York.
