World Brief

The Shoot Out 24-Hour Filmmaking Festival, a hit in Oz and New Zealand, will make its U.S. debut in Boulder, Colo., Oct. 22.

The Shoot Out is filmmaking as an extreme sport. Competitors get just 24 hours to complete a seven-minute film that will be screened and judged the same weekend.

The fest, first staged in Newcastle, New South Wales, plans more events for the U.S., Australia and Europe next year.
