Kiwi summit also attracts Boyens
AUKLAND — Niki Caro, director and writer of Kiwi hit “Whale Rider,” will be one of the key participants in the fifth Biennial World Summit of Women in Film and Television Intl. in Auckland next month.
Other Kiwi screen industryites will include Philippa Boyens, who co-wrote the Oscar-winning script for “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” and helmers Gaylene Preston, Merata Mita and Annie Goldson.
Four-day summit, beginning April 21, is also attracting delegations from the U.S., U.K., Canada and Europe.
Seminars will examine the importance of preventing technology from driving the creative process and of indigenous filmmaking in the international marketplace. Delegates will also tour some of the region’s stunning filming locations.
