Savannah fest fetes O’Toole

Helmer Jewison, journo Ebert also to be honored

HOLLYWOOD — The sixth annual Savannah Film Festival is set for Oct. 23-30, sponsored by the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Georgia fest will honor Peter O’Toole and Norman Jewison. Roger Ebert will receive the lifetime achievement in entertainment journalism award.

“Jeffrey Bernard Is Alive,” starring and co-directed by O’Toole — his first helming effort — will unspool at the fest.

Last year’s event featured such films as “The Barbarian Invasions” and “In America,” which both went on to receive Oscar noms.

Honorees and guests in the past two years have included Sydney Pollack, Jane Fonda and John Waters.
