Production and distribution company Samy Boy Entertainment and its production partner HSI Entertainment have formally unveiled shingle Element Films.
Element confirmed it is moving forward with comedy “Waiting,” which will shoot in Louisiana in February. Project was written and will be directed by Rob McKittrick (“Son of the Mask”); Ryan Reynolds stars. Producers include Robert Green, Adam Rosenfelt, Stavros Merjos, Jeff Balis.
Exec producing will be Sam Nazarian, Hans Zimmer and his company Media Ventures and Chris Moore (“Good Will Hunting,” “American Pie”). Production financing pact was first announced in July, when the Louisiana Institute of Film Technology and the Louisiana Economic Development Corp. created the $50 million financing facility LA Squared, from which Element draws some of its financing. While Element will draw from this fund, it is not exclusive to production within its structure.
Nazarian said the newly named entity “formalizes our commitment to film financing and production under one, unified brand.”
With Sundance now unspooling, Element will unveil Ryan Shiraki’s “Home of Phobia,” starring Marla Sokoloff, Heather Matarazzo and John Goodman on Sunday.
