Fest gives lifetime award to 'Cuckoo' helmer

Milos Forman will receive the Film Society Award for Lifetime Achievement in Directing at the 47th San Francisco Intl. Film Festival, which runs April 15-29. Danny DeVito will present the award to Forman on April 22 at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco.

Thesp Chris Cooper is also being honored with the Peter J. Owens Award.

A public presentation, including a compilation of clips from Forman’s career, an onstage interview and a screening of “Hair,” is scheduled for April 23 at the Castro Theater. Forman’s “Taking Off” and “The Firemen’s Ball” will be shown April 18 at the theater.
