Pic will be released in October
Roadside Attractions has acquired North American distribution rights to “Tying the Knot,” Jim De Seve’s doc chronicling the battle to legalize same sex marriage.
Pic, which preemed at the Tribeca Film Festival, will be released in October, before the November presidential election.
It screens this week in New York in gay and lesbian film festival NewFest.
“Gay marriage is the most important civil rights issue of our time and has become a hot-button topic in this election year,” said Eric d’Arbeloff and Howard Cohen, co-prexys of Roadside Attractions.
” ‘Tying the Knot’ goes to the heart of the matter by portraying two longtime gay couples whose lives have literally been destroyed by their inability to marry legally.”
Acquisition is the fourth for Roadside Attractions, following Morgan Spurlock’s “Super Size Me,” Eytan Fox’s political thriller “Walk on Water” (both with Samuel Goldwyn Films) and Gabriele Muccino’s “Remember Me, My Love.”
